Kumada Yoshiko was born in Gifu City, July 24, 1923. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Takemura Kiyone and Satō Kimiko and received her Shihan (masters license) in 1947. A member of the Kokufū Ongaku-kai, she was a performer and teacher for more than 50 years.
