Born in Tokyo, July 6, 1921, Kuramoto Sonotomo (Kuramoto Tomo) studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Yamakawa Enshō. She received her teaching certification in 1946 and belonged to theTokyo Shunwa-kai and Ōshima Shunwa-kai.
