Saitō Fukuju
斉藤 富久寿

Saitō Fukuju (Saitō Sugako) was born in Tokyo, January 8, 1914. She studied Yamada-ryū shamisen and koto under Yagishita Suei, Fukuchi Masue, and Murata Shōsen. An active performer and teacher for more than 40 years, she won first place in the composition category at the Tokyo Shimbun Hōgaku Competition and also received the Minister of Education Award and the NHK Award. She was president of the Fukuju-kai.
