Shimojima Fumiko

Shimojima Fumiko was born January 5, 1915 in Hiroshima City. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Aoki Kengyō and Funada Kiku and began teaching in 1937. She was a member of the Kikune-kai and a council member of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai. A performer and teacher for over 40 years, she received the Kawasaki City Cultural Association Award.
