Nakahigashi Masae (Matsuda Masae) was born in Chōshi City, Chiba Prefecture, July 5, 1940. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Nakamine Takako, earning her teaching license in 1969. She was an executive member of the Wakō-kai.
