Born in Hamamatsu City, July 27, 1911, Nakamura Itohana (Nakamura Muna) studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Sakashita Itoyozumi I. She began teaching in 1928 and belonged to the Imai-ha. During a career spanning more than 50 years she was a director of the Shizuoka Sankyoku Federation and the Hamamatsu Sankyoku Kyōkai.
