Muramoto Sōju (Muramoto Yoshiko) was born March 17, 1942 in Akita Prefecture. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Sasaki Akie and started teaching in 1966. Muramoto was affiliated with the Japan Music Research Society.
