Born October 3, 1921 in Kanagawa Prefecture, Muramatsu Chikauta (Muramatsu Utako) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Yonekawa Kin'ō, Satō Chikaki, and Inoue Michiko. She started teaching in 1951. She was the head of the Shōsei-kai, and a member of the Kensō-kai, Shiragiku-kai, and Shinonome-kai. Her career in Hōgaku spanned more than 50 years.
