Born December 25, 1936 in Fukuoka Prefecture, Yamazaki Teruko studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Watanabe Sumiko. She began teaching in 1948. She belonged to the Kitakyushu branch of the Miyagi-kai.
