Wataridani Kotoe’s long and remarkable career in Hōgaku spanned more than 70 years. She was born February 25, 1895 in Okayama Prefecture. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Saitō Yoshiyuki and began teaching in 1909. She belonged to the Raku-kai and Kurashiki Sankyoku Dōkō-kai.
