Kobayashi Yoshiko was born in Tokyo on February 22, 1921. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Miyagi Michio and began teaching in 1946. She was a councillor of the Miyagi-kai, head of the Kane-kai, and part of the Hōgaku world for over 45 years.
