1925: Began formal study of koto music 1941: Promoted to Daikengyō 1947: Founded the Kikushiro school of Ikuta-ryū koto music 1954: Received the Osaka Citizens' Cultural Festival Award for the composition and performance of the koto piece "Yama no Suisha" 「山の水車」(Mountain Waterwheel) 1957: Held his first solo concert. after that, held regular solo concerts every year 1958: Founded the Masaaki Kikushiro Koto Ensemble 1966: Received the Osaka Cultural Festival Award for the composition and performance of the koto suite "Shiki" 「四季」(Four Seasons) 1968: Founded the Gendai Sōkyoku Renmei Kessei (Modern Koto Music Federation) 1970: Founded the Gendai Sōkyoku Renmei Gassō Kenkyūkai (Modern Koto Music Federation Ensemble Research Group / GGK)
