Torii Shinrei was a folk singer born in Akita Prefecture.
He was the composer of the Akita folk song "Akita Oiwake".
His stage name Shinrei means "beautiful singing voice like the chirps of bell crickets", specifically the ones that live in Moriyama, a symbolic rural mountain area of ​​Gojome Town in Akita.
