Koide Shōdō (Koide Yasukuni) was born July 18, 1896 in Akkeshi. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Funaki Kendō, Muroi Takudō, Inoue Seiha, and Takahashi Shōdō. He belonged to the Kushiro Kinko-kai and was a teacher and performer for more than 50 years.
