Seko Getsubo (Seko Seisuke) was born October 13, 1909 in Aichi Prefecture. He began his five decade-long career in shakuhachi studying Chikuho-ryū shakuhachi under Mizutani Miho (Sakai Chikuō), an advisor to the Chikuho-ryū Chūkyō Branch. He started teaching in 1929 and belonged to the Bifū-kai.
