Born October 18th, 1919 in Takamatsu City, Nakamura Gakushū (Nakamura Yoshihiko) studied Ueda-ryū shakuhachi under Miki Shuen. In October of 1959 he was designated Garyusai Dai-shihan and began his teaching career. He belonged to the Gakuyū-kai and the Chikushu-kai.
