Hayashi Shūdō (Hayashi Teruyo) Born August 28, 1926 in Gifu Prefecture. He studied Ueda-ryū shakuhachi under Ueda Hōdō and began teaching in 1947. He was the head of the Chiku-ryū-kai and had attained the rank of Ueda-ryu Shakuhachido Dai-shihan.
