Born August 28th, 1919, Matsutani Reishō (Matsutani Akira) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Itō Reiu (Aoki Reibo I lineage) and started teaching in 1955. He was a member of Reibo-kai and Hokkaido Kinko-kai.
