Furuya Yasue was born July 8, 1932 in Tokyo. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Furuya Tomizō and began teaching in 1953. She was a graduate of the 3rd class of the NHK Hōgaku Music Skills Training Workshop. She was a member of the Hōyū-kai and a councillor of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai.
