Born January 19, 1934, Yamaguchi Hozumi (Yamaguchi Yasuko) studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Fukuchi Masue, head of the Satsuki-kai. She graduated from the 3rd class of the NHK Hōgaku Ikusei-kai, was an Artist in Residence at Wesleyan University, attended the French Music Education Conference, and began teaching in 1960.
