Growing up in an Air Force family, Mike Rosenlof lived in Japan for three years as a child. That time in rural western Tokyo led to a lifelong interest in the culture of Japan, including the study of shakuhachi with David Kansuke Wheeler beginning in 2006. Mike has retired from his day job of software engineering, he lives in Louisville Colorado with his wife Karen. He has performed solo and with groups along the Colorado Front Range.
