Koto - Shamisen

Born in Osaka. Blind from the age of five. Developed a wide repertoire of pieces and is credited with bringing Kansai-style Jiuta to Tokyo. Became president of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyokai (the Japan Sankyoku Association) in 1947. Designated Living National Treasure 1955.
