Born in Gifu Prefecture, May 13, 1926, Nakajima Keiko studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Miyagi Michio, Suyama Chigyō, and Murase Kaku, earning her teaching credentials in 1947. She received the Encouragement Award at the Osaka Culture Festival in 1964. Active as a teacher and performer for almost 80 years, she was a lecturer at Osaka College of Music, head of the Kirigen-sha, and a leading member of the Miyagi-kai.
