Born September 3, 1924 in Tochigi Prefecture, Yonekawa Fumishizu (Yonekawa Hama) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Yonekawa Fumiko. She was granted her Shihan (master's license) by Yonekawa Fumiko I in 1939 and began teaching in 1941. She belonged to the Sōchō-kai and was a director of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai.
