An award-winning koto player and prolific composer, Yoshizaki Katsuhiko was born in Toyama Prefecture in 1954. Since graduating from the Traditional Music department of Tokyo's University of the Arts in 1977 he has been active performing in concerts around the world, recording, and composing new works for traditional instruments. He considers his koto school to be more of a collaborative workshop that respects and acknowledges all styles and repertoire, hoping to create a creative path for traditional instruments that, informed by the past, also manifests the future.
