| Composed by Tomiyama Seikin I in August 1958, with lyrics by Takechi Tetsuji (proofread by Tanizaki Junichirō). Commissioned by Victor Company of Japan. This work is based on the fictional piece that is composed by Shunkin in Tanizaki's novel "Shunkin Sho." Written for two koto and shakuhachi ensemble. Using elements such as the spring nightingale, the murmuring of a stream, the pine wind, and clouds of flowers, this song describes the gradual warmth that begins in early spring, singing of Shunkin's enlightened state of mind, as if melting spring snow. A dance choreography by Hideko Kawaguchi was also created. |
