Born in Amagasaki City, February 2, 1906, Kikui Shō’on (Arita Gorō) studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Kikui Manya and Miyagi Michio, earning his Shihan (masters license) in 1925. A teacher and performer for more than 50 years, he was head of the Kikui Sōgaku-sha and a member of the Board of Directors of the Ōsaka Sankyoku Kyōkai.
