Nakamura Kayō

Born March 28, 1900, Nakamura Kayō (Nakamura Masako) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Chikushi Katsuko, earning her teaching license in 1924. She received the Iwakuni City Cultural Merit Award in 1968, and taught koto at Iwakuni High School and Teijin Iwakuni Factory. A longtime member of the Chikushi-kai, her career as a teacher and performer spanned more than 50 years.
