Sasaki Akie (Sasaki Kei) was born in Akita Prefecture, January 1, 1933. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Komatsu Kagekazu, Usami Shoshun, and Takahashi Yoshi. Started teaching in 1942. Vice President of the Nihon Ongaku Kenkyū-kai.
