Arai Kōdō (Arai Mineyuki) was born March 12, 1920 in Maebashi City. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Serizawa Shōdō, a disciple of Araki Kodō III. He began teaching in August of 1954. He was was the founder of the Wakachiku-kai in 1951 and also vice president of the Gunma Sankyoku-kai.
