Koga Seihō (Koga Manzō) was born on January 1, 1905 in Kurume City and was a part of the shakuhachi world for more than 50 years. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Matsuo Gessui and Satō Seibi. He started making shakuhachi at the age of 17. He was the chief of the Kurume branch of the Bifū-kai,, and the Harukuni chapter chairman.
