Mimata Masako was born March 19, 1913 in Fukuoka Prefecture. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Fukuda Eika and Miyagi Michio. Started teaching in 1954. She was the head of Fujinooto-kai, a councillor of the Japanese Sankyoku Association, and belonged to Mitsunooto-kai.
