Kitagawa Utano (Ukon Yoshino) was born in Kyōto, January 1, 1902. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Ihara Kunitaka. A member of the Kyōto Tōdōkai and the Seiha Hōgaku-kai, she was an active performer and teacher for more than 65 years.
