Kikuto Sumiko (Kurasa Mitsuko) was born in Sakai City, January 16, 1915. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Kikuno Yoshie I and began teaching in 1935. A member of the Tōdō Ongaku-kai, her experience as both a performer and teacher spanned more than 50 years.
