Born in 1925, Tomihara Seigiku (Shinohara Tomiko) became a student of Tomiyama Seikin I in 1953, studying Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen. She was given the artist name Seigiku in 1958 and the surname Tomihara in 1973. She was head of the Seioto-kai.
