Born in Tokyo, October 17, 1919, Nagano Tomoko studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Wakamatsu Kikuko, earning her teaching credentials in 1968. Active as a performer and teacher for more than 50 years, she was head of the Yakumo-kai and a councillor of the Miyagi-kai.
