Born in Hiroshima Prefecture, September 27, 1924, Hayashi Shūkin (Hayashi Chizuko) studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Kawasaki Shizue and Miyashita Shūretsu. She started teaching in 1960. She belonged to Shūrei-sha, and was a deputy director of the Koto Department of the Hiroshima Prefectural Traditional Music and Dance Association.
