Born December 25, 1913 in Yamanashi Prefecture, Kubota Itsuko (Kubota Fujio) studied Itsudō-ha Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ikeda Itsuren. He began teaching in 1953. He belonged to the Shakuhachi Itsuren-kai.
