Kodera Kōyō (Kodera Mitsuko) was born in Osaka Prefecture, December 18, 1908. Studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Nakamura Sōyō I, earning her teaching credentials in 1953 She graduated from the Research Department of Osaka Municipal School for the Blind. A member of the Yōfū-kai and president of the Kōyō-kai, she was active as a performer and teacher for more than 40 years.
