Tanii Masayo

Born in Shimonoseki City, August 6, 1925, Tanii Masayo (Tanii Masako) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Matsuo Hōsui, Tanii Toshinori, Miyagi Kiyoko, Miyagi Kazue, and Yuize Shin’ichi, earning her teaching license in 1947. She was president of the Tama-no-ha Society, and affiliated with the Miyagi Society. Active as a teacher and performer for over 50 years, she received the Osaka Sankyoku Association's Distinguished Service Award in 1969.
