Tateshiro Machiko

Born in Osaka, August 3, 1905, Tateshiro Machiko (Nishizawa Machiko) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Tateshiro Mamoru, earning her masters license in 1925. A member of the Sōkyoku-gaku koto-kai and a director of the Osaka Sankyoku kyōkai, she was active as a teacher and performer for more than 40 years.
