Satō Kinsui II

二世 佐藤 錦水

Nacido 1965

Shakuhachi - Shinobue

Born in Tokyo in 1965, Satō Kinsui II (Satō Hidefumi) spent his childhood listening to folk songs as lullabies. He began learning the shakuhachi at age 10 under the guidance of his grandfather, the late Satō Kinsui I, a well-known Min'yō shakuhachi performer.
He pursued professional activities as a musician while continuing his student life, and entered formal training during his university years.
While enduring rigorous daily practice under his grandfather, Kinsui I, he also studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Mitsuhashi Kifū to hone his skills in classical shakuhachi.
He studied shinobue and nohkan under Fukuhara Toru of the Fukuhara-ryu Hayashi school. In 1992, he was granted the name Fukuhara Hyakufumi by the Fukuhara-ryu school.
As Satō Kinsui II he has concertized and toured extensively at home and abroad, and continues his grandfather's legacy by teaching the next generation of Min'yō players. He served as an instructor for the Youth Division of the Nihon Min'yō Kyōkai and as the association's exclusive accompanist.
