Tsubata Tomoko (Hirohata Tomoko) was born November 17, 1913 in Osaka Prefecture. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Tsuda Yoneko and was awarded her Shihan (masters license) in 1921. Active as a performer and teacher for more than 50 years, she was affiliated with the Nihon Tōdō Ongaku-kai.
