Born in Fukuyama City, December 1, 1886, Takahashi Kae (Takahashi Yasue) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Chikushi Katsuko, earning her teaching credentials in 1928. She was a member of the Chikushi-kai and was a performer and teacher for more than 50 years.
