Hasegawa Shōyō (Hasegawa Kazuko) was born January 3, 1928 in Miyagi Prefecture. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Endō Sōkō and Endō Sōkei. She started teaching in 1957 and belonged to the Kokufū Ongaku Shōrei-kai.
