Kurabe Haruko was born in Hiroshima Prefecture, March 8, 1907. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Sasao Takenoto, earning her Masters license in 1945.. A member of the Sōmei Ongaku-kai, she was an active performer and teacher for more than 60 years.
