Matsui Sōga (Matsui Chiyoko) was active as a performer and teacher for almost 60 years. Born November 3, 1908 in Fukushima Prefecture, she studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Endō Shōko. She began teaching in 1930, and was a longtime member of the Kokufū Ongaku Shōrei-kai.
