Born February 18, 1935 in Hokkaido, Mitsuhashi Hatsuyo (Mitsuhashi Sawae) studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Kiritani Hayo and Fukuda Fukiyo. She began teaching in 1960, and belonged to the Seikin-kai.
