Born February 4, 1910 in Kyōto Prefecture, Sekizawa Kangi (Sekizawa Nobuo) studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Tsuda Seikan, earning his teaching credentials in 1920. Active as a performer and teacher for more than 60 years, he was the director of the Kyōto Tōdō-kai and president of the Kinsei-kai.
