Born in Tokyo, July 25, 1896, Tsujimura Shōei (Tsujimura Sada) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Tsujimura Shōryū, earning her Shihan (masters license) in 1922. She was chairman of the Kinryū-kai. Active as a performer and teacher for over 50 years, she received the Japan Sankyoku Association Senior Citizen Award in 1971.
